Many thanks to all who worked on making the August 7th fundraising event a success... We raised just under $1000 for the Newtown Skate Park. It was a lot of fun and we could not have asked for better weather.

2009 COMPETITION

Donate to Skate 2009 was great!
It was held Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Dickinson Memorial Park in Newtown, and a fun time was had by all. We ended up making over $1,200 toward our goal!

There are many people and businesses to thank that made this special day a success. Big thanks to all our volunteers. Thanks to Big Y, Joe Fetcho, Super Stop & Shop, Mr. Salvatore, Caraluzzi's Market and My Place Pizza for the various food contributions.

Thanks to Chris Grosso the owner of Grosso Custom Builder's, a Donate To Skate committee member, for picking up ramps all over town with the help of volunteer Rolando Garrett setting them up and also providing a very large ramp he constructed himself for the skaters to enjoy. To Bill Robertson owner of Robertson Construction who constructed a large ramp on site for the skaters enjoyment as well. These guys worked extremely hard getting a one day skate park put together for this event. At the end of the day they collectively took everything down and returned them. Thanks to all of the people who let us borrow their ramps and rails for the day.

Thanks to Evan Garrett and Bek Meyers for their creative effort in hand painting two skate decks that were given away as 1st place prizes. To Vertigo skate park for providing Free skate passes, and My Place for free Pizza coupons, which were given away to winners of the competition. Also thanks to The Newtown Bee and The News Times for advertising the event.

2008 COMPETITION

Donate to Skate 2008 was a smashing sucess!
It was held Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Dickinson Memorial Park in Newtown. We couldn't have asked for nicer weather, greater volunteers, or more generous sponsors.

The main attraction was a skateboarding competition for all ages and skill levels, sponsored by Vertigo SkatePark. Ramps were supplied by Rampage. Kids of all ages had fun competing, or just enjoying the free skate.

Final figures are still coming in, but it looks like we are about $6,500 closer to our goal!

Sportsmanship awards
Rob Dauphin: Deck from Vertigo- for thanking the judges for judging.

J.R. Schneider: Monthly Unlimited Membership to Vertigo (free skating all day every day for a month)- for staying cool when his board broke in the middle of his contest run.

Patrick Dugan: Won a rail given away by Rampage owner Richard Peterson for the 1st place winner who demonstrated the most courage and overcame the most to skate a great contest run.

We seem to have misplaced the name of one of our winners! Let us know if you have that info.
